Information Technology
The Information Technology Department's duties are to maintain, plan, manage, assist in purchases, and implement technologies in RFISD Schools.
Planning
Technology is an integral part of the planning process. Curriculum and technology must integrate to form a complete learning environment.
Maintenance
RFISD has approximately 1700 computers and 200 laptops, 900 A/V devices, 420 ShoreTel IP Phones, 352 security cameras, 400 printers, 53 servers, 145 network switches and routers, and hundreds of fiber and copper network drops that must be maintained daily. In addition to maintaining these systems, we handle over 850 work requests per month.
Management
The Technology Department manages one of the largest evolving computer networks in all of South Texas. User accounts exceed 1000 including over 500 email accounts. These numbers continue to rise.
Purchasing
Hundreds of requests come across the desk of the Technology Department for approval. The primary goal is to ensure that users purchase the appropriate technologies at the right price in accordance with district plans and policies.
Implementation
Once the hardware and software arrive, it is the job of the Technology Department to see that all technologies are installed in accordance with the district standards
