About Me

CLASS: Reading, Writing, & Social Studies

SCHOOL PHONE: 361-790-2240 ext 4404

When I was in second grade, I turned to my best friend and informed her,
"I know EVERYTHING a first grader is supposed to know. I could be a first
grade teacher," and then I continued with my math problems. That is my
earliest recollection of wanting to become an educator. As I grew, I was
drawn to children--babysitting, nursery work at church, camp
counselor--and my desire to teach, just became stronger. I earned my
undergraduate degree from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) in 1988
and my Master's Degree from Texas A & M (Corpus Christi) in 1997. This
year marks my 32nd year of teaching!

My husband was a coach & high school biology teacher in the district for
18 years before becoming an assistant principal. This year, he will be
working at the middle school. Our daughter is in eighth grade and worries
that her father might embarrass her when he chaperones the school dances.
Our son is a junior at RFHS.

In my spare time, I dabble in photography--my favorite subjects being my
children & my students! At FLC, I'm known as the paparazzi (click! click!)
since I am on the yearbook committee.

Mission Statement

I hope that my students find my classroom fun & challenging as each
individual strives to become a better reader and writer. These are lifelong
skills that are so important no matter what path each selects.
