I am thrilled to be a Pirate! I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you. This is my sixth year with ACISD, but my first year at RFMS!
I traveled a lot before coming to Rockport many years ago. I believe we have some wonderful people in our community and feel fortunate to have settled here, nestled by the beach. I always wanted to be a teacher, and finally went back to school to become certified in English, History and Special Education and now I have received training and am working as a Reading Interventionist. It has been a wise decision! Every day is unique and I have met some of the most amazing individuals. Teaching has changed my life for the better. My students and colleagues enrich my life daily. I know teaching is a privilege, and one that I cherish.
I genuinely like people, especially young people. I embrace students with their unique gifts and will demonstrate respect, compassion, discipline and love through diligent planning-- knowing that every student learns differently.
I look forward to aiding and inspiring my students to master objectives to the best of their ability and to grow and develop as individuals in a positive way.
I also realize the importance of what I have been entrusted to do. I know it is a great honor to be able to make a difference in lives every day, and I am very grateful for the positive difference my students make in mine.
My mission is to provide positive learning experiences that empower, inspire and facilitate success for all students while recognizing and addressing their individual strengths and diverse needs in a respectful, caring environment.
My interests are mostly aligned with the activities that my kids (and students) are involved in! I enjoy theater, dance, music, film, biking and reading. I love my pets (they are so entertaining), but I do not need any more!
I am a huge fan of PBS and our local KEDT-TV/FM station, The Education Foundation supporting ACISD, the Humane Society, Camp Aranzazu, the Rockport and Austin Film Festivals, the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and ACISD sports of all kinds!
I enjoy reading, especially historical fiction.
A few of my favorite books are:
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell
The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory
Daughter of Fortune by Isabella Allende
Always grateful for copy paper, pencils and eraser caps!
