Andrea Naismith

About Me

My name is Andrea Naismith. This is my third year as a  librarian in Aransas County ISD and I am thrilled to be working at Live Oak Learning Center. Before coming to Live Oak, I worked for 9 years as a librarian in Corpus Christi, and two years at Fulton Learning Center. I am a certified teacher for grades 1-8, and have taught in elementary school classrooms for 10 years. I received my Masters of Library Science degree through Texas Women's University in August, 2009.

In addition to my library duties, I have also served as an officer on local PTA boards and served on the Texas Bluebonnet Award Selection Committee.

Mission Statement

I love books and reading. My mission and my passion in my life is to show kids what an amazing world is available through books and literature and to give them a love of reading as well as a passion for learning that will last them for the rest of their lives.

My Interests

My husband, Jim and I have been married for 25 years. We have four children (Camden, Lora, John and Sarah), two step-children (Jim and Trista), and five grandchildren (Logan, Alexis, Kayleigh, Kase and Leighton). I also have a Bengal cat named Jake.

In my spare time, I love to read and relax, crochet, cook and bake.

Books and Links

As a librarian, one of the hardest questions to answer is "What is your favorite book?" My typical answer is "Whatever I am reading now./Whatever I just read.

My favorite series of all time is the Violet Eden Saga, written by Jessica Shirvington--an Australian author. This summer, I have read several fabulous books, including Towers Falling, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and The Hidden Oracle.
