About Me

This will be my first year as a school counselor here in Aransas County. I have been a teacher for the last twenty-five years and decided to go back to school to get my counseling degree three years ago. I graduated from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi this last May. I'm excited to see students achieve their goals and aspirations.

I live in Lamar with my husband, Jeff Sims, a fishing guide here in Rockport and my step-daughter, Denaee, who is studying criminology a Sam Houston State University.

Mission Statement

As a school counselor, my purpose is to help foster a school climate that cultivates motivation, passion, innovation and empowerment in the students I work with. It's important to help students see their potential academically, socially and emotionally, and foster a love of learning that will encourage them to reach for their career goals and aspirations. Lastly, it is important to advocate for student needs and work toward success in our district's future goals.

My Interests

I love to run, play tennis, read, play volleyball with my nieces at the beach, and work out.  I also love to watch sappy chick flicks with my dog, Sandy, and hang out with my family and friends. I especially love traveling, to spend time with my two beautiful grandsons, Kemper and Brody or to Utah to be with my daughter Amanda and son-in-law, Jordan.
