On Thursday, August 29, Aransas County ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the 2019-2020 budget which contains a new and improved teacher pay scale and raises for all staff. Pay increases for ACISD employees paid by the new scale range from $4,000 to $8,500, roughly 10 to 15%. This was made possible by HB3 providing the district with an additional $1,254,000 dollars. HB3 requires a teacher salary increase of 75% of 30% gain in revenue. The latest and greatest state template required the district to increase staff paid on the teacher salary scale by $731,364. In passing the budget, the board of trustees committed 100% of ACISD gaining revenue to it teachers, librarians, counselors, and nurse.
ACISD increased auxiliary salaries by 3% at the mid-point. This includes campus auxiliary, campus office staff, operational services, transportation, and child nutrition.
Employees will see the increase beginning with their September pay checks. The new pay scale is posted on the Human Resources department page on the ACISD website. Superintendent Patek had this to say about the salary increases, “We have worked tirelessly since the 2016 school year to provide an increase for the employees of ACISD. Each year, an obstacle was blocking a raise. In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and this year being a session year, I was optimistic that we would get it done this year. With the help of HB3 and other cost saving measures, we are able to go above and beyond to provide a raise for staff.”
