Five outstanding Rockport-Fulton High School students attended the High School Heroes Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, May 16, which is sponsored by the Coastal Bend Blood Center. Overall, 51 participating high schools in the Coastal Bend collected 12,192 units of blood, and Rockport-Fulton High School generously contributed 365 units of life saving blood during the 2016-2017 Challenge.
This was enough units to secure a second place finish in the 4A division. The RFHS National Honor Society students would like to thank everyone who took time out of their day to contribute at the high school for their blood drive. Because of the sacrifice of everyone who gave blood, many patients throughout the Coastal Bend were given a second chance on life. According to NHS Sponsor, Paula Polasek, “Our goal for next year is to secure a 1st place finish by increasing the number of units that are collected by getting more of the community involved.”
RFHS National Honor Society was awarded a $1000 Walmart gift card, which they plan to use to purchase toys for underprivileged children at Christmas 2017.
The NHS students in attendance on Tuesday were Haley Sinclair, Kathryn Hamilton, Mary Tucker, Drew Scott, and Carlee McCoy.
