Little Bay Primary High Quality Pre-K Grant

Little Bay Primary is expected to receive $31,375 in grant funding for the 2016-2017 school year to enhance their prekindergarten program.  Little Bay Primary met specific enhanced quality standards related to curriculum, teacher qualifications, academic performance, and family engagement in order to receive funding.  Funding will be utilized at Little Bay Primary for an additional prekindergarten teacher and support staff to extend the instructional day from approximately three hours of instruction to approximately six hours of instruction (7:20 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.).

The 84th Texas Legislature, 2015, established a High Quality Prekindergarten Grant program.  The total amount of funding distributed to school districts across Texas for the 2016-2017 biennium will not exceed $118 million ($59 million each year of the biennium period).  Funding may only be used to improve the quality of the school district's prekindergarten program.

The grant intention is to provide monies to enhance the focus of implementing high-quality education standards for Texas Pre-K students by providing additional tools necessary to succeed and improving accountability and transparency measures for participating prekindergarten programs across the state.

This grant will allow Little Bay Primary to continue to implement high quality standards in their prekindergarten classrooms bringing the ACISD prekindergarten program to the next level.  Enrolled children will have access to the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in kindergarten and beyond.

Little Bay is expected to receive an additional grant in the amount of $31,764 for the 2017-2018 school year.  The total grant funds awarded will be $63,138.
