Notice Concerning Special Education Records

For Previous Students of the

Aransas County Independent School District

 

State of Texas law requires districts to maintain special education records on previous students for five (5) years after the student graduates or no longer qualifies for special education services.  Aransas County ISD maintains special education records for a period of seven (7) years.

 

Consequently, on August 7-11, 2018 the District will destroy special education records for:

 

  • Students who have not been enrolled in the district's special education program since June 2, 2011 and students who graduated on or before June 2, 2011.

 

Students or their parents/guardians may obtain these records before they are destroyed by following the steps below:

 

  1. Notify the ACISD special education department at the following number:  361-790-2017

 

  1. Pick up the records at the special education student records office at 619 N Live Oak, on or before June 30, 2018.  Please note that records will not be mailed but must be picked up in person.  To ensure confidentiality, persons receiving records will be required to present identification and meet one of the following:  an adult student, parent of a dependent student under section 152 of the Internal Revenue Code, or parent of an adult student who has been given written consent and sign a document indicating receipt of the records.

La ley del estado de Tejas requiere que los distritos escolares mantegan los documentos de educacion especial de los estudiantes por cinco (5) años despues de que el/la estudiante gradue o ya no califique para los servicios de educacion especial.  Aransas County ISD mantiene registros de educación especial por un período de siete (7) años.

 

Por consiguiente, el 7-11 de agosto de 2018 el Distrito destruirá los registros de educación especial para:

  • Estudiantes que no han estado matriculados en el programa de educación especial desde el 2 de junio de 2011 y estudiantes que se graduaron antes del 2 de junio de 2011.

 

Los estudiantes o sus padres / tutores pueden obtener estos registros antes de ser destruidos siguiendo los pasos a continuación:

 

  1. Notificar al departamento de educación especial de ACISD al siguiente número 790-2017

 

  1. Recoja los registros en la oficina de registros de estudiantes de educación especial en 619 N Live Oak, a más tardar el 30 de junio de 2018. Tenga en cuenta que los registros no se enviará por correo debe ser recogido en persona. Para asegurar la confidencialidad, las personas que reciben los registros deberán presentar una identificación y cumplir con uno de los siguientes: un estudiante adulto, padre de un estudiante dependiente bajo la sección 152 del Código de Rentas Internas o padre de un estudiante adulto que ha recibido consentimiento por escrito Y firmar un documento indicando la recepción de los registros.
