Tunchez' swift actions helped to evacuate 120 nursing home patients to safety; he single-handedly manned the only emergency dispatch center, he patrolled city streets, assisted with the evacuations of over 4000 residents and helped to distribute food and supplies. He also assisted in saving the life of a Rockport resident suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Soto recorded over 300 hours of service patrolling city streets, participated in the search and rescue of nine residents and also cleared debris to make way for first responders. He also was instrumental in the unloading of 20 semi-trailers as well as the storage, organization and distribution of food, supplies and clothing.
