January is School Board Recognition Month and Aransas County ISD is joining other districts across the state as we honor the many contributions of our locally elected advocates for public education. The current Aransas County ISD board members are:
Jack Wright, President
Chris Krupa, Vice-President
June Ann Ashley, Secretary
James Pieper, Board Member
Eli Ramos, Board Member
Cindy Robbins, Board Member
Diane Tucker, Board Member
“Even though we make a special effort in January to show appreciation to our board members, we realize their many contributions reflect a year-round commitment for which we are very thankful. The board members generously give of themselves to ensure that decisions directly affecting our local schools are made by representatives of this community who are close to our schools and know our teachers, parents, and students,” said Joseph Patek, ACISD Superintendent of Schools. “Board members shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult choices. Their ultimate goal is always focused on the future success of the children in our district,” Patek said. “The job is no easy task in today's climate of rapid change and financial uncertainties. Our board members provide vision and leadership in their roles as advocates, and they stand up for our students and public education,” he said.
“Serving as a crucial link between the community and classroom, this board is responsible for an annual budget of over $36 million; almost 2700 students in grades PK to 12th; more than 500 employees; and five campuses. They attend meetings, conferences, seminars, and work with district staff, business leaders, parents, and community members to learn more and to do what's best for children. Our district benefits from the tireless work and countless hours contributed by these local citizens who work without pay.” Patek stated. “Our board members roll up their sleeves and get involved to improve things. They demonstrate an unfailing commitment to the success of all students. ACISD Board members are truly an “All-Star Team for Schools.” I invite everyone to join me in celebrating School Board Recognition Month in January, and encourage everyone to take a moment to express your appreciation for the volunteer efforts of school board members. Our district benefits greatly from their service.”
The school board members will be honored at the regularly scheduled board meeting on January 18, 2018.
