Facilities Plan Update from Superintendent Patek 11.06.2017

Thank you for your continued patience as we work through details for our recovery plan. We seek to only provide accurate information, and that has required great patience.  We have categorized this message by topic and will continue to share applicable information as pieces unfold.

Facilities Plan: Update 11/06/2017

Construction Report: This is our current plan as of our latest construction meeting with NorthStar Recovery Service (NRS) on Friday, November 3, 2017.  Twelve engineers from NRS reported today to assess roof damage of campus facilities.  Due to the recent rain, this is being done as an extra measure to try to prevent future roof issues.

Little Bay:  The campus will tentatively be ready after Winter Break.  The timeline has lengthened to the latter part of January 2018.  North Star is waiting for the Engineer report to continue on to the next stage of the recovery phase.  There is a lot of work behind the scenes due to the scope of the damage to the campus.  Pre-k and Kindergarten students returned to classes at Live Oak Learning Center on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

Live Oak Learning Center: Students returned to classes on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.  Recovery will continue at the campus, until the restoration is complete.  Every day brings progress.

Fulton Learning Center: Students returned to classes on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. The SpEd area should be partially ready by Monday, November 13.  The improvements to the library have a tentative completion date of Monday, November 20.  Recovery will continue at the campus, until the restoration is complete.  Every day brings progress.

Middle School: Although, still in the recovery phase progress is steady.  More areas of the campus will become available tentatively during and within the next 90 days.  Students returned to classes on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

High School:  The commons area is completed and preparations are being made to be able to utilize this area.  The date to be able to use the culinary arts facility and adjacent classroom has been adjusted to on or after Monday, November 13.  We have a tentative date of Sunday, November 19 for the high school kitchen to be turned over to the Director of Child Nutrition.  The band hall is still on track to be ready after Thanksgiving break.  The west campus will be ready after Winter Break.  Students returned to classes on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

Baseball and Softball fields:  The stop nets for baseball and softball are on order.  The lighting is being addresses and should be fixed soon and before the season begins.  The goal is for the fields to have lighting to use before the season begins.  Temporary lighting options are being explored to have lighting available as soon as possible.

Running Track:  Repairs are scheduled to begin soon.

Old Tennis Courts:  The lights, with a timer, are scheduled to be completed on or about Friday, November 10.  Fence repairs are scheduled to begin soon.

Auditorium: will not be usable until late 2018.

Odyssey/Old Live Oak: Change in plans!  The Odyssey building will be ready for operation tentatively after Thanksgiving break.  Offices have resumed operations in the new LOLC.

Football Stadium: Pirates had our first home game Friday, October 20!

Central Office: Relocated to Rockport Elementary on Live Oak Street.

Transportation Plan: ACISD returned to regular bus routes on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

Playground equipment:  Certain items of playground equipment will be strengthened, if needed.  Although, in good condition some equipment is a little wobbly.

Pirate Strong!
