Rockport-Fulton High School physics students were fortunate to be able to attend a free forum held at Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. Nobel Prize winning physicists, Adam Riess and David J. Gross, discussed their research achievements and described their path to winning the Nobel Prize. Besides RFHS, around 900 Coastal Bend community members attended the forum, including 500 students from Pawnee Junior High, Freer High School, Agua Dulce High School, Three Rivers High School, and West Oso High School.
Our own RFHS Physics teacher, Richard Flather, is quoted in a TAMUCC article about the event, praising the value of the visit. He said, "Having our students attend an event like this helps to show them what they could achieve if they pursue a career and education in the STEM field. Today they got the rare opportunity to meet Nobel Prize winning scientists, that is something that not many students can say they have experienced.”
