Fulton 4-5 Learning Center was declared the state-wide winner for Texas in a national recycling contest sponsored by the can manufacturer's industry and will be awarded a $1,000 prize. This is the 5th year that the school has won top honors in the state. Keep in mind that there are over 10,000 school campuses in the state of Texas. Winning the state title is therefore quite an honor indeed!
The school also brought in the 2nd most total poundage of all participating schools in the United States! Wow! The school's metal recycling program is sponsored by 5th grade science lab instructor, Martha McLeod. Trailers for transporting the cans to the recycling center were provided by Tiffanie and Chris Hoover for the 2014 – 2015 and 2015 – 2016 school years and Amy and Chad Chapman for the 2016 – 2017 school year. A HUGE thank you to both of these families who were applauded by the entire student body at their regular morning announcements on Tuesday, May 23rd.
