Members of the Rockport-Fulton High School Fightin’ Pirate Band participated at the UIL Region 14 Solo and Ensemble contest held on Saturday, February 23rd at Texas A&M University at Kingsville.
Leland Knapp, Director of Bands is proud to announce that 30 students brought home First Division Superior “gold medals” from this contest.
Students earning first division medals are: AshLee Bilbo-Flute, Yonnika Huff- Flute, Dona Michael-Flute, Kate Knapp- Oboe, Madeleine Bayeh-Clarinet, London Sheridan-Clarinet, Hannah Viducic-Clarinet, Blake Gomez-Horn, Justin Walker- Horn, Nicolas Scotch-Tuba, Taylor Sprinkle-Clarinet, Matt Gutierrez-Trombone, Isaiah Samora-Baritone, and Emily Spears-Baritone.
Students who have qualified to participate in the UIL State Solo contest are: Melissa Anderson-Flute, Esai Salazar-Bass Clarinet, Austin Gibson-Trumpet, Meredith Lanningham-French Horn, Bryan Nguyen-Trombone, Evan Hamilton-Snare Drum, Jake Rose-Snare Drum, and Dennis Chupe-Tympani.
In addition, three small ensembles certified to the UIL State Contest. They are: Mixed Woodwind Trio- Madeleine Bayeh, Kate Knapp and Danielle Moya, Flute Quartet: Melissa Anderson, AshLee Bilbo, Yonnika Huff, and Dona Michael, and a Brass Quintet: Ben Bolting, Austin Gibson, Blake Gomez, Bryan Nguyen, and Michael Trevino.
The UIL State Solo and Ensemble contest will be held in Austin, Texas on May 25, 2013.
