JEFFREY CARLSON Senior Naval Science Instructor Senior Naval Science Instructor: JEFFREY CARLSON

This year-round program is designed to teach the values of citizenship and service to the community to our young men and women in high school.  It emphasizes respect for authority, our country and its flag, and the benefits of leading healthy and drug-free lives, while strengthening academic performance and achieving high school graduation.  This past year, our program’s fifth full season, we had a positive impact on 100+ students, resulting in better grades, more community service hours, less discipline problems in school and at home, and an opportunity to build team-work and camaraderie with fellow students.  NJROTC Headquarters awarded our unit its third consecutive Unit Achievement Award, an honor reserved for the Top 50% of units in Area 10, encompassing most of the State of Texas. Our extra-curricular teams were extremely competitive, earning many team trophies and individual honors for our cadets.  As a unit, we qualified for the Area 10 Texas State Championship Drill Meet in College Station, TX, placing 10th overall amongst the 16 best NJROTC high schools from across the State of Texas with a 2nd place and a 3rd place trophy as well as a 3rd place medal for our Armed Drill Team Commander.  This continued success has given us renewed enthusiasm to achieve even greater goals for the new year.
